The following is a list of the basic concepts pertaining ideal concerns pertaining to criminal investigations:

-A crime scene consists of three parts - the location, the items at the location, and any potential witnesses.

-There are two ways to examine a crime scene - through forensic processing or through an investigative approach.

-Forensic processing can be divided into four parts: securing, photographing, collecting and examining physical evidence.
